A Seasonal Exploration of our Attention
These days our attention is constantly being pulled in different directions. Each year, time seems to pass us by more and more quickly and it seems that we never get a chance to fully appreciate the intricacies of beauties around us. The same can often be said in regards to the the challenge to fully appreciate our own personal, constantly evolving realities as we move through our lives. In Fieldwork, however, each workshop offers you a chance to slow down and actually reconnect with not only what is immediately around you, but also with yourself.
Moving through Fieldwork, each workshop follows the landscape as it changes throughout the year. We'll follow what is emerging, disappearing, resting, growing, blooming, or beginning again to help us explore how spending intentional time in nature can shift the way we notice our surroundings, our bodies, and our own internal experience.There’s some mindfulness, some nature observation, some creative experimentation, and plenty of room to just enjoy the outdoors.
A workshop might include:
- A guided meditation or body-based practice
- Sensory observation and listening
- Creative activities using natural materials
- Individual reflection
- Conversation and connection with others
These workshops have been led at Green-Wood Cemetery, Kingsborough Community College, and community gardens. I’m available to lead these customized workshops for retreats, events, community groups, gardens, schools, and other organizations.
